5 Benefits of Using Fraxel Lasers

Are you considering using fraxel lasers on your face? There are many benefits of doing so. From minimizing sun damage to getting rid of scars, here are five benefits.

Are you looking to minimize sun damage or eliminate mild to moderate acne scarring? Many people, including celebrities, are finding great results with Fraxel lasers.

This process works by gently resurfacing the skin. With many treatment options available, we've compiled the top five benefits of using Fraxel lasers.

What is a Fraxel laser?

Before we uncover the benefits of Fraxel lasers, let's talk about what they are. A Fraxel laser is a type of fractional resurfacing laser.

It is a non-invasive treatment that erases imperfections. It also stimulates collagen growth which is a protein that is important to maintain youthful, healthy skin.

Fraxel lasers are considered non-ablative, meaning that there is no direct damage to the exterior layers of skin.

It works by creating tiny wounds in the inner layer of skin where collagen is produced. The surface skin is not damaged during the procedure. As the inner layer of skin heals, older skin cells are sloughed off. Collagen growth is also stimulated. This results in improved skin appearance, tone, and elasticity.

The benefits of Fraxel lasers are tremendous.

Treatment of Many Different Skin Conditions

Fraxel lasers can treat a wide range of skin conditions including:

  • Fine wrinkles, sun damage, aging on the face, neck, hands, and chest

  • Mild to medium acne scarring

  • Certain melasma cases

  • Improve fine lines and crepey skin around the eyes

  • Improve skin tone and texture

  • Reduce precancerous spots

Quicker Recovery

Ablative treatments, like CO2 and Erbium lasers, work by vaporizing the outer layers of the skin. The skin will then heal and restructure. Most patients need between one to two weeks of recovery time.

Non-ablative treatments work by heating up the targeted tissues without destroying it. Because the treatment is less intrusive, patients experience virtually no downtime. You can be out and about, with sunscreen and protection, the very next day

Pair It With Other Treatments

Fraxel laser treatments can be used in conjunction with Restylane, Juvederm, and other temporary or semi-permanent fillers. It's recommended to wait one week after receiving the laser treatment to receive a filler.

For Sculptra, it's best for patients to have the Fraxel treatment first. Otherwise, patients should wait up to three months after their last Sculptra treatment before getting a Fraxel treatment.

Longer-Lasting Gradual Improvement

While most people notice results within the first week of treatment, others may take longer to see results based on the issue they are having treated. Skin will have a glow to it while looking smoother and less blotchy.

Because Fraxel boosts collagen production, results are longer-lasting. For patients that wear sun-protective clothing and apply sunscreen, the results can be long-lasting.

Less Expensive Than Ablative Procedures

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, non-ablative, or Fraxel, laser resurfacing procedures cost an average of just over $1,031. Average costs for ablative procedures are more than double, at $2330.

While prices for the procedure will vary from surgeon to surgeon, Fraxel laser treatments are far less expensive.
